Local Frisco Educator wins Mrs. Texas
United States® Competition
A dream came true for Wendy Grandell, who
competed as Mrs. DFW, walked away with the coveted Mrs. Texas
United States®
competition at Wakeland High School Theatre in Frisco. The three
day event in April culminated with a fully-produced show and the
exciting crowning. Contestants were judged equally by four
judges in personal interview, swimwear and evening gown. Mrs.
Grandell also was named Most Photogenic by a separate panel of
judges.
Wendy, a 31 year-old high school English
teacher who lives in Frisco, has a BBA in Marketing from the
University of Texas at Arlington. She has been married to her
husband, Zack, for 7 years and they have a daughter, Kylie
Marie. She has been named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers
three years in a row, and issues important to her include the
educational success of children, especially for at-risk
students. She has a special interest in the Boys and Girls Clubs
as well, and anticipates doing more volunteer work with the club
during her year of reign. Additionally, Wendy is involved in her
church’s women’s ministry program and a volunteer for The
Samaritan Inn in McKinney, Texas. This was her first time to
enter a pageant for married women. She now competes with women
from all over the United States and its territories in Las Vegas
July 20-25, 2008 for the coveted
Mrs. United States®
crown.
