Local Frisco Educator wins Mrs. Texas United States® Competition

A dream came true for Wendy Grandell, who competed as Mrs. DFW, walked away with the coveted Mrs. Texas United States® competition at Wakeland High School Theatre in Frisco. The three day event in April culminated with a fully-produced show and the exciting crowning. Contestants were judged equally by four judges in personal interview, swimwear and evening gown. Mrs. Grandell also was named Most Photogenic by a separate panel of judges.

Wendy, a 31 year-old high school English teacher who lives in Frisco, has a BBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has been married to her husband, Zack, for 7 years and they have a daughter, Kylie Marie. She has been named to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers three years in a row, and issues important to her include the educational success of children, especially for at-risk students. She has a special interest in the Boys and Girls Clubs as well, and anticipates doing more volunteer work with the club during her year of reign. Additionally, Wendy is involved in her church’s women’s ministry program and a volunteer for The Samaritan Inn in McKinney, Texas. This was her first time to enter a pageant for married women. She now competes with women from all over the United States and its territories in Las Vegas July 20-25, 2008 for the coveted Mrs. United States® crown.
